BEHIND THE SCENES OF “TOBAGO 1677”

The “TOBAGO 1677” film project has turned into a true community affair with over ninety-five percent of the cast and nearly forty companies being local. All costumes and uniforms have been created locally, the same applied to set construction & blacksmith work. A substantial part of the production has been moved to the unspoiled and picturesque countryside of Tobago - Parlatuvier and Bloody Bay. Supervised by the Parlatuvier Village Council, the residents supplied fishing boats and plenty of manpower to support and carry out the extremely complicated landing scenes. During the entire production, over 80 Tobagonians volunteered their time in an unparalleled effort to recreate the most difficult historical scenes. The “Behind the Scenes” section is paying tribute to the efforts and roles of all the individuals, private companies and government departments that have participated in the production of this film. Especially the Trinidad & Tobago Coast Guard and National Security Helicopter teams worked side by side to assist our film teams to produce aerial and coastal scenes of great action and beauty.

DUTCH & FRENCH BATTLE RE-ENACTMENTS

During the extensive battle scenes, there were more than 130 people involved. Nearly 80 people have been re-enactors, the balance being the film team, hands and security staff. In addition, over 40 local companies and many individuals have provided their services for the duration of this production. The National Security Helicopter teams, the crews of the TT Coast Guard vessels, their dive teams and two OTSL science vessels added another 80 people to the production pool.
